SLP students crafted a 15-minute activity revolved around a children’s book; the activity incorporated lessons from class content.
Fall Festival (Fall 2021): 2021-22 (2121) Educational Support Autism Society of NE Service Learning Academy (SLA), Special Education and Communication Disorders Service Learning Course None Fall 2021-22 None 18 11 0 0 0 0 Capacity Building UNO speech-language pathology (SLP) graduate students enrolled in CDIS 8540 (001): Autism Spectrum Disorders, will have the opportunity to engage in a service-learning project encompassing interdisciplinary collaboration with Creighton occupational therapy (OT) students. UNO and Creighton students will design activities for participants on the autism spectrum to build upon various gross motor and speech skills during the annual Autism Society of Nebraska (ASN) Fall Festival. UNO graduate students will apply knowledge gained through course content and presentations to this project.

On Mondays of each week, UNO students will listen to a lecture on a specific topic. On Wednesdays, UNO students will practice their activity for Field Club Elementary students. Katie (the Completely Kids Program Coordinator) and Brittany (the SLA GA) will attend class on Wednesdays to provide feedback to UNO students on their presentations. Each student group will practice on a given Wednesday and present the following Wednesday at Field Club Elementary.

Nebraska HeartBeats: 2019-20 (2133) Arts, Culture and Humanities, Educational Support, Health and Wellness Nebraska Arts Council Music Engaged Research Faculty Research None Summer 2019-20 Summer 2020-21 0 0 0 0 0 0 Capacity Building, Health Awareness, Music/Dance, Art Nebraska HeartBeats is a collaborative project that aims to improve the quality of life of people affected by Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) through participatory, creative musical experiences with the University of Nebraska at Omaha Maverick String Quartet. The goal of Nebraska HeartBeats is to provide social and emotional support to individuals and their care partners affected by ADRD. Through an adaptive music curriculum that focuses on musician/participant interaction, the UNO Maverick String Quartet aims to address the emotional and social needs of participants while contributing to the environment of care.
Sound Health - Faculty Research: 2016-17 (2134) Arts, Culture and Humanities, Educational Support, Health and Wellness Aksarben Village Senior Living, Dial Senior Living, Childrens Hospital and Medical Center, Country House Memory Care Facility Music Engaged Research Faculty Research None Spring 2016-17 Spring 2017-18 0 0 0 0 0 0 Capacity Building, Health Awareness, Music/Dance, Art The goals of Sound Health are to contribute to a healing environment; to give music student service- learning opportunities; and to break down the “fourth wall” barriers, connecting musicians to their audiences and vice versa. Since its inception, Sound Health has provided over 100 performances by over 100 musicians for thousands of patients, staff, and visitors. During the fall 2017 semester, approximately 40 students participated in Sound Health and Sound Health - Performances and Reflections served as the culminating celebration of the fall semester. The purpose of the event was to enjoy performances by Sound Health musicians; hear how they were affected by their experience; share listener feedback; recognize students who have performed; and promote engagement between musicians, listeners, and community.

Students also recorded vidoes speaking about what the piece meant fro them in relation to their background. Enrollees in the course also answered student questions after their performances.

In this project, the Arts Council brings in high school and college students from around the area to learn from guest artists' master classes.

The jazz camp is available for middle and high school students locally and nationally.

The festival was founded in 1973 and is regarded as one of the premiere educational jazz festivals in the nation.

This performance featured guest drummer and international recording artist Sherrie Maricle.
Quiet No More Performance: 2018-19 (2190) Arts, Culture and Humanities, Educational Support Central College - Pella, IA Music Knowledge and Resource Sharing Community-oriented lecture/event None Summer 2018-19 Summer 2018-19 0 0 0 0 0 0 Education, Youth Programming, Music/Dance, Art For this project Jason Johnson participated in two performances of a piece composed to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Riots called Quiet No More, composed by six composers who were close to the event. Performances were held in Omaha and Pella, Iowa.

The exhibition showcased the various types of printmaking i.e. etching, woodcut, screenprint.
Good Vibrations Instrument Drive: 2021-22 (2196) Arts, Culture and Humanities, Educational Support Omaha Chamber Music Society KVNO Radio Knowledge and Resource Sharing Community-oriented lecture/event None Fall 2021-22 Fall 2021-22 0 0 0 0 0 0 Education, Youth Programming, Leadership and Mentoring, Capacity Building, Music/Dance For this project KVNO Radio organized a used instrument drive for the Omaha area. The instruments were collected and distributed to Title 1 schools in the metro. Additionally, tudors and scholarships were provided for local high school students interested in music.

Spring 2019 was the launch of the most ambitious Generator Series event to date: RESILIENCE, a multi-event series of concerts, talks, masterclasses, and open rehearsals exploring themes of creativity in confinement, violence against women, contemporary ideas of femininity, and the impact of incarceration and violence on families. The artists featured on RESILIENCE have direct experience with these themes, and have created generous and engaging works that illustrate the struggle, self-determination, and transformation of their stories.

Collaborating partners include Lutheran Family Service, Nebraska Children's Home Society, and Child Saving Institute. The Nebraska Adoption Project is designed to improve permanency outcomes for children/youth in the Eastern Service Area child welfare system who are considered "hardest to place" (see logic model). Process evaluation components will determine if services were delivered as intended and adhered to the program models (fidelity), and provides a cost-benefit analysis of the program. The outcome evaluation components will determine the outcomes for the youth in foster care. An experimental research design with random assignment will be utilized. Qualitative research will be used to capture rich data for process evaluation purposes. The sample available for this evaluation is anticipated to be 108 youth, with 72 youth in the Treatment group (Nebraska Adoption Project), and 36 youth in the Treatment As Usual (Wendy's Wonderful Kids) group.

Established in 1974, Studium Chorus is the award-winning, internationally renowned mixed choral ensemble of Siauliai University in Siauliai, Lithuania. Siauliai, Lithuania is one of Omahas Sister Cities, and Siauliai University is one of UNOs Sister Universities. Studium Chorus will present a series of performances and educational activities while they are in Nebraska. Each performance/activity will have a different target audience and focus. The events will take place at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO), the Double Tree by Hilton Omaha Downtown, the Omaha Jitterbugs Swing Dance Club Night Out, OPS's Gomez Elementary School, Omaha Central High School, and Bellevue East High School.

Also, the women on the panel addressed societal expectations thrust upon women in the workforce. The panel discussion served as a catalyst for questions from pre-professional men and women. One common theme throughout the 90 minute panel was gender pay inequality.
