Description : Students from Professor Steve Rodie’s Landscape Appreciation course and Ms. Rachael Arens’ Omaha Northwest AP Environmental Science students jointly gathered information in the Fall 2019 semester on the City of Omaha’s potential plastic bag ban ordnance. On January 30th, students testified to the LB 905 bill committee in Lincoln at the State Capitol in favor of a plastic bag ban.

Description : Students and faculty worked with the volunteer coordinator at the agency to conduct an evaluation of the organization’s volunteer program. The aim was to provide the agency with quantitative and qualitative data and feedback from the perspective of their volunteers with the goal of improving volunteer and organizational outcomes.

Description : The project was canceled due to the transition to remote learning. This project is a partnership between Dr. Maher's geology students, Mrs. Brown's 5th grade science students from St. James Seton, and Prairie STEM. Together, the students use technology from Prairie STEM to study what happens to rain water and create a final product that represents their work. The product will be donated to Prairie STEM so they can show it to future students as an example of what projects they can do.

Description : UNO Geography/Geology students in Professor Deere's course partner with AP Environmental Science students from Burke High School to assess soil health in the community. The students gather soil together for testings, and throughout the project, they meet at UNO and Burke High to test the soil and interpret the results together. At the end of the semester, the students present the results of their research at the UNO-OPS Joint Research Symposium.
