Description : UNO instructor Dr. Amy Rodie’s Business Ethics course worked alongside Boys Town Day School students to create ethical-scenario-based skits to perform to middle school students at Boys Town. The student groups worked together over the course of five meetings to write the script for the scenarios and create discussion questions for the performance at the end of the project. P-16 Project

Description : This project was canceled due to the transition to remote learning. UNO Elementary Music Methods students will be teaching etiquette to students at Western Hills Elementary School with the help of community partner Courteous Kids. UNO students will create original piggyback songs, which change the lyrics of popular songs to teach a specific lesson. The students will have the opportunity to use this method to teach important life skills to elementary students.

Description : UNO’s Cellular and Molecular Neuro-biology class and King Science Health Care Academy will partner with MS Forward Gym to understand the role of genetics in health. Students will engage with and support MS Forward clients while learning key concepts and gaining hands-on health career experience. UNO and King Science students will also reflect on their experiences throughout the semester.

Description : UNO Social Work students will work with members of the Circle of Friends group from Omaha Northwest High Magnet School. UNO students will develop active listening and rapport-building skills while helping Circle of Friends members create personal goals with objectives, learn new skills, and adapt in social situations. The goal is to allow graduate social work students to learn clinical skills and Circle of Friends members to learn skills to utilize during and after high school.

Description : Dancers from UNO’s The Moving Company will be collaborating with Beveridge Middle School and Omaha South High School dance companies on a performance for the ten year anniversary of CultureFest. The choreography by UNO’s Danielle Laurion is inspired by cultures around the world with movement representing water, wind, and other elements of nature. The collaboration provides an opportunity for the middle school, high school, and university dancers to connect with each other and showcase their talents at the CultureFest event.
