SOCIAL JUSTICE

Social Justice is one of the mission categories in the Community Partnership Initiative. Community partners and projects with the mission of Social Justice work to address inequality and corrupt social structures while devoting special efforts to meet the social needs of underprivileged populations.

UNO has more than 30 partnerships with community organizations that address issues related to social justice and has identified over 120 projects that make an impact on the community.

One of these projects was carried out by Project Achieve student Katherine Esquivel. Inspired by the work of Habitat for Humanity Omaha, Katherine started a UNO Habitat for Humanity Student Chapter. Katherine has led the organization in building seven homes and works on three to four houses a year. The organization has raised $1,000 and volunteered approximately 2.500 hours in support of the Habitat for Humanity cause.

Behind each partnership and project, there is an impactful story - demonstrating the power of collaboration in transforming communities.
